Change.org is searching for an Engineering Manager to help us lead the Starter Growth team!
We’re a social impact business (a public benefit company), and the largest tech platform focused on civic action in the world with 80m monthly users, 50,000 campaigns launched on the site every month, 150 staff, and a new revenue model that has grown by 500% in 2 years.
We’re growing quickly, and our users win campaigns for change once every hour. From strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa; fighting corruption in Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil; to fighting violence against women in India.
We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager who is Knowledgeable at SEO/SEM growth engineering working with complex web frameworks at scale and has a passion for expanding our platform to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to take deeper civic action.
You will be based out of our San Francisco headquarters and report to our Senior Director of Application Development.
You’re a perfect fit for this role if your superpower is engineering leadership alongside full stack experience with an eye towards frontend development and user experience.

Key responsibilities / Core Skills
React.js: Ability to work throughout our tech stack (React, JS, GraphQL, Ruby, Elixir) with a focus on Front End capabilities
Technical Leadership: Ability to breakdown vague product requirements and piece together comprehensive plans to lead full team execution
Management: You’ve helped shape and define other engineers’ growth. Even better if you’ve also been responsible for their growth as their direct manager.
Engineering: Working with marketing and product specialists to improve user growth through acquisition funnels, using techniques related to SEO, SEM and content management
Target experience:
- 8 years of software engineering experience
- 5 years of frontend framework experience (e.g. Angular, Vue, Rendr) with 3 years in React 2 years experience in technical leadership and team management
- Experience with growth and acquisition funnels, SEO, SEM and content management a plus
- Experience with elixir/ruby a plus

Change.org is a global company, and salaries are adjusted for cost of labor in each city. The annual salary of an Engineering Manager is $182,000 in San Francisco. In exceptional circumstances, we may offer below the listed salary for high potential candidates with less experience, or above it for candidates with significantly more experience.
