The Role

Imaging the subsurface through seismic acquisition used to be solely accessible to a few large energy companies. It’s high time for a change!

At STRYDE we are developing and commercialising the world’s smallest and cheapest seismic node system, and in doing so, making subsurface imaging available to any industry. STRYDE is already well established in the market, disrupting the seismic industry with some of the largest nodal sales to date.

The seismic industry is not only oil and gas anymore. 65% of our 2023 projects were in other industries, such as carbon storage, geothermal, terrestrial hydrogen capture. Our low cost and easy to use node is essential for the growth of these industries.

What's in it for you?

Being part of our innovation hub in Asker, gathering ~20 extremely talented engineers and developers. Our work ranges from electronics design and embedded software to client facing applications, involving a wide variety of domains: sensors, signal processing, mechanical engineering, extremely low-power electronics, GNSS receivers, Bluetooth LE, optical communication, wireless charging, embedded software, full stack software development with a wide range of languages, frameworks and technologies, geodesy and geophysics.

More than your standard 8 to 4 office position: our Asker facility hosts three labs where ideas are conceived, designed, prototyped, and tested. We also have an entire floor where equipment is staged and prepared for delivery to customers, who operate our product all over the world, in deserts, forests, frozen lands or urban areas. Pace and momentum: in STRYDE's four years of existence, we have brought a new product to market and produced close to 1 million (!) nodal units and their containerised support systems. We are a lightweight organisation with an ambition to grow fast: we make things happen.

Agility and security: though we are a young fast-growing company, our investor is extremely solid: we are currently 100% owned by bp. We offer competitive salaries, broad range of insurances and generous bonus terms.

Very liberal working conditions: home office widely accepted, flexible working hours, and an easy traffic-free commute from Oslo, Hurum or Drammen when coming to the Asker office, where you will have your own single office!

What you will do:

  • Manage the team of 8 engineers in electronics, mechanics, computer hardware, IT, testing
  • Along with your counterpart in software, ensure that the Technology organisation designs, develops and delivers the technical solutions that STRYDE requires to be successful
  • Along with your counterpart in software, support and partner with the CTO to assure a smooth running of the Technology group, including team and competency management, generation of board level material, input to the company technical strategy etc.
  • Lead the portfolio of hardware development projects following the company’s technology road map and strategy
  • Lead the sustaining and 2nd line support activities for hardware equipment, working closely with internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for compliance activities part of product design phases
  • Improve technical development processes and best practices

What we are looking for:

  • You have already managed teams of engineers, preferably in multi-disciplinary projects, and have a genuine interest in managing people
  • You have already managed projects, ideally a portfolio of projects
  • You are educated as an engineer, and have a strong technical acumen, with interest both in future product development and maintenance of existing equipment
  • You are self-driven, well organized and motivated by enabling your team to deliver and succeed
  • You are not shy of working in a lab environment or with physical prototypes
  • You ideally have experience with the seismic industry
  • Strong background in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering (MS or PhD), with a genuine interest in technology
  • Proven skills in project management processes and best practices, ideally in an ISO9001 context
  • Experience with development of electronics products
  • A good understanding of product compliance and regulatory obligations
  • Fluent in English and able to write technical as well as vulgarized documentation
