The Role

In this role, you will support Cuberg in its development of state-of-the-art lithium-metal batteries for aviation and other high-performance vehicles. The work will involve managing Cuberg’s public affairs and story in both media and industrial settings.

Shaping the public presence of Cuberg and media relations will be primary responsibilities, but additional functions include supporting fund raising and engagement with public bodies.

You will work closely with senior management team of Cuberg on-site in San Leandro. Additionally, you will have frequent engagement with the Corporate Communications team of Northvolt in Stockholm.

By representing Cuberg in working with the Director of Communications & Public Affairs Northvolt North America, you will also have a responsibility for shaping Northvolt’s growing presence in the region.

The role is suited to an individual who is comfortable working as a one-person band, but has the mindset to engage effectively with remote Northvolt colleagues.

Your day-to-day work will be both strategic and very hands-on at the same time. You will run the Cuberg press office with the overall goal of setting up a long-term, proactive media agenda, while handling incoming press enquiries on a daily basis. You will oversee stakeholder relations, while also representing Cuberg on national policy matters.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies and plans to advance Cuberg's objectives and enhance its brand
  • Lead media relations efforts, including developing media relationships, creating press releases and media statements, and managing media inquiries
  • Oversee the development and execution of Cuberg's digital and online presence, including website content, social media, and other digital media channels
  • Manage internal communications to ensure consistent and effective messaging across the organization
  • Proactively identify and manage potential communications issues and crises, including developing crisis communication plans and coordinating rapid response efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various initiatives, including product launches, industry events, and thought leadership opportunities
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and industry trends to inform and adjust communication strategies
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, consultants, and other partners to support communication efforts

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or equivalent in years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related field
  • Prior experience managing communications in the technology or energy sector is highly preferred
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic communication plans
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms
  • Experience managing media relations and crisis communication
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with key stakeholders

Benefits

The target US compensation range for this full-time position is $150,000-$250,000 + equity + benefits. Compensation ranges are determined by level, role and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hire total cash compensation (base + bonus), individual pay is determined by additional factors including relevant job-related skills, experience and additional factors.
