The Role

Kwil is a framework for deploying relational databases as decentralized, byzantine fault tolerant blockchain networks. Backed by Blockchange, Digital Currency Group, AlleyCorp, Amplify Partners, and other leading VCs, Kwil's decentralized SQL solution is poised to become a major infrastructure layer in the next generation of Web3 dApps and protocols.

Kwil is seeking a Creative Director / Marketing Lead to own Kwil’s external marketing and brand awareness. As the Creative Director, you will be in charge of defining the creative direction for the Kwil brand, producing assets (e.g. websites, social media posts, videos, etc) that reinforce the brand, and establishing a narrative that resonates with our target market. You will work closely with the entire Kwil team to understand Kwil’s products, features, and release schedule and creatively communicate these items to our external stakeholders (clients, prospects, investors, etc). If building a technical brand for a product that will shape the future of the internet excites you, then this is the role for you.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and refine the Kwil brand, working with our team to understand our product and the markets we serve.
  • Define brand strategy and marketing initiatives for both in-person conferences and social media.
  • Create designs for our website, in-person events, and social media using tools like Figma, Adobe Animate, or comparable technologies.
  • Update and maintain the Kwil website (kwil.com) and ensure that the content accurately reflects the Kwil product, has optimal SEO on all search engines, and resonates with our market.
  • Own all external communication channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Discord) and leverage those channels to build Kwil’s brand awareness.

Skill & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in person in Austin, TX.
  • Experience building a brand from scratch, ideally for a technology infrastructure / B2B software company.
  • High-level understanding of blockchain industry and its relevant market segments (DeFi, Decentralized Identity, DePIN, Decentralized Social, etc).
  • Expert at designing and building websites from scratch using a no-code tool or a front-end framework (React, NextJS, Vue, etc).
  • Experience optimizing SEO for different websites.
  • Experience managing social media branding initiatives on platforms like Twitter, Discord, and LinkedIn.
  • A portfolio of creative/marketing assets from prior roles.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to solve problems autonomously when the solution isn’t immediately apparent.

Nice to Haves:

  • 2+ years working in a technical marketing, brand, or creative role.
  • Experience working in marketing/branding at a technical blockchain startup.
