Team Overview:

The Systems Integration and Test team (I&T) is focused on validating, integrating, verifying, and qualifying SOE designs. I&T takes ownership of end-to-end projects and works closely with project teams and customers to learn designs and use cases. Every team member works to understand a wide variety of problems in new or legacy designs and can architect systematic means of implementing & testing solutions. Team members emphasize reusability, automation, and developing hardware and software infrastructure to serve internal and external customers as efficiently as possible.

Job Overview:

As the Integration & Test Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the development and maturation of the Integration & Test (I&T) team and discipline at SOE. This will require you to work with senior leadership to develop a roadmap for how the team will grow and drive new core competencies aimed towards the long-term success of SOE, supporting the execution of projects and the business development and hiring/training pipelines. You will be responsible for the professional development of the team members, facilitate infrastructure creation and maintenance, and are expected to support the team as an individual contributor and subject matter expert.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage, mentor, and grow the I&T team of engineers developing custom test systems and programs for hardware and firmware projects
  • Work with project teams to understand the device-under-test functionality and generate test coverage, edge cases, and requirements to inform test planning and test system design
  • Strategically develop and invest in infrastructure that will enable the growth and success of the I&T team
  • Create a hiring pipeline and hiring process for the I&T team
  • Partner with Business Development to identify ways in grow I&T project pipeline
  • Collaborate with marketing to classify and showcase SOE’s I&T capabilities
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to identify ways to grow and mature SOE’s Integration & Test capabilities, which include both hardware and software development

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field)
  • 7+ years in a technical leadership role in an engineering, production, or R&D environment
  • 5+ years of experience directly mentoring and/or leading engineers through the development of test systems (eg HITLs, SILs), campaigns, and projects for both development and production phases of hardware development
  • Ability to break down, understand, and explain complex electromechanical designs and evaluate for test coverage, risk, and complexity
  • Excellent execution of engineering projects involving end-to-end system design/ architecture, program planning and execution
  • Depth in at least one core engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Software) and a strong understanding of interfaces to other disciplines
  • Ability to understand technical and business topics for areas outside of immediate expertise by utilizing different strategies (research, first principles, etc.)
  • High level of organization and excellent communications skills
  • Ability to recognize project risk, scope creep, and missing critical requirements

What Would Be Useful:

  • Versed in testing for aerospace or automotive products; familiarity with aerospace environmental testing such as thermal cycling, vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and EMI/EMC
  • Experience with testing frameworks
  • Experience working in a startup/tech/consulting environment, prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities concurrently
  • Experience with Python, C++, object oriented programming
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, and testing of electronics
  • Experience in any common MCAD and ECAD tools

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in El Segundo, California, USA
  • Applicant must be eligible to work on ITAR projects
