This role
We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in high-speed communication protocols and SerDes blocks. In this role, you will be responsible for system bring-up/validation test methods, as well as leading test execution. You will collaborate closely with the Electronics and Optics team to share critical feedback on our system performance and help design features for the next-gen system.

Areas of contribution

• Define, develop, improve, and execute test methods via firmware and test setups for validation of high speed SerDes blocks
• Root-causes HW/FW issues in engineering, design, and production validation vehicles
• Owns HW SerDes performance and guides the team on hardware-to-model gap-analysis, system performance targets and drives future hardware specifications
• Work closely with electrical design team to review signal integrity and power integrity designs as well as characterize the performance in the lab
• Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, managing projects, and executing to plan

Requirements (necessary skills for this role):

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Demonstrated expertise in optical and/or electrical link bring-up and test
• Understanding of SerDes operation and calibration, including equalization blocks (e.g. TX FFE, CTLE, DFE, DSP), PLLs, and clock/data recovery
• Solid understanding of high-speed SerDes modulation techniques including NRZ and PAM4
• Understanding of high-speed SerDes firmware and firmware architecture
• Working knowledge of SerDes signal integrity eye diagrams, bathtub curves, etc.
• Hands-on lab bench experience in PCB board bring-up, testing, and validation
• Strong programming skills in high and low-level languages such as Python and C
• Knowledge of package/board signal integrity and power integrity for high speed Serdes links
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Indicative salary range for this position: $110,000 - $150,000 a year
