We are seeking to hire a technically skilled database administrator that is capable of holding positions of great responsibility. In this role, you'll be the first respondent to database problems that arise and carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.
Most of our data is stored in the cloud and we are looking for candidates who are experienced with cloud hosted database systems, specifically AWS RDS MySQL/Aurora. Utility provides secure digital evidence management platforms to government entities and as such we require all employees that have access to data be FBI background checked and CJIS trained and certified.
Database Administrator Responsibilities:
Monitoring system performance and identifying problems that arise.
Responding in a timely manner to user-reported errors.
Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access.
Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss.
Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.
Provide business data reports to management.
Suggesting changes and improvements for database maintenance or protection.
Designing databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind.
Constantly optimize queries and stored procedures for speed and performance.
Provide slow query reports to engineering.
Implement database changes, upgrades and patches
Design and maintain database architecture, structures and relationships
Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide database support and optimize database solutions
Develop and maintain database documentation
Implement database security measures, including user management, access control, and encryption
Collaborate with developers to design and implement database schemas that meet application requirements
Develop and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, process flows, and technical specifications
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in database technology and industry best practices
