We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to become an integral part of our team. You will lead the research, design, development and testing of control hardware and embedded software for our robotic vending machines. Our ideal candidate is interdisciplinary in hardware and software, with bare metal firmware experience and expertise in electrical system design.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver from prototype to production
- Redesign, assemble and test PCBs
- Maintain existing embedded software and Implement new firmware in C
- Debug and flash code, bring up and calibrate new machines
- Perform remote field maintenance of machines
- Create and manage BOMs
- Vendor and contract manufacturer management
- Evaluate off-the-shelf parts for use in the machine (motors, sensors, cables, connectors, ICs...)
- Interface with Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineers to execute design improvements
- Manage and complete various certifications for our machines (e.g. UL, CE, CSA, etc)
Qualifications:
- 8+ years previous experience in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics engineering, and/or robotics
- Expert in schematic design and PCB layout
- Expert in C programming for embedded software
- Experience with microcontrollers, stepper drivers, etc
- Experience working with vendors and contract manufacturers
- Experience soldering, working with SMD packages
- Experience with rapid prototyping, including 3D printing and CNC machining
- Familiarity with electrical diagnostic equipment
- Experience soldering, assembling PCBs, and creating wire harnesses
- Experience using Linux
- Excellent root cause analysis skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask; Self-starter
