The Role

Opioid overdose is the leading cause of death for Americans under 50. Resilient Lifescience is developing a solution: a wearable medical device that can automatically detect and reverse an opioid overdose. We are a seed-stage, venture-backed startup planning to scale our engineering team in 2023.

We are looking for an electrical engineering lead to join us full-time in Pittsburgh to help take our device from proof-of-concept to production. As an early employee, you will work closely with founders Brad and Charlie to assemble a world-class team and to bring our product to life.

We are looking for an electrical engineering lead to join us full-time in Pittsburgh to help take our device from proof-of-concept to production. As an early employee, you will work closely with founders Brad and Charlie to assemble a world-class team and to bring our product to life.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Designing schematics and laying out custom multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Authoring firmware in the C programming language for an STM32 microcontroller to read values from sensors, write data to long-term storage, and communicate over cellular networks.
  • Drafting technical documentation, including requirements documents, test specifications, and hardware design specifications for fabrication and assembly.
  • Working with distributors and vendors to manage the supply chain and manufacturers to ensure reliable builds.
  • Bringing-up, debugging, and validating the above PCBs, including soldering/rework of the boards and use of common bench test equipment.
  • Collaborating with mechanical engineers on the enclosure.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be excited to work on a small team in a fast-paced environment, to pick up additional responsibilities when the need arises, and to shape the future of a life-saving medical device.
  • Have industry experience with form factor electronic design and layout in Altium Designer for multi-layer PCBs, including with components such as microcontrollers, sensors, and cellular modems.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of best practices for STM32 firmware development using C, including libraries such as FreeRTOS, CMSIS, and HAL, and interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and SDMMC.
  • Have experience working on FDA-regulated medical devices, including use of a quality management system and compliance with corresponding EMC standards.
  • Have hands-on experience with PCB debug / rework and common bench tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, multimeters, etc.

This is a full-time position based in our office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are looking for candidates to join the team in early January 2023.

At Resilient Lifescience, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy (including childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information (including characteristics and testing), military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Resilient Lifescience believes that diversity and inclusion among our teammates is critical to our success as a global company, and we seek to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.
