The Role

Director of Business Development:

As a Business Development Director at Klatch, you’ll be on the frontlines to help lead a fast growing, early-stage startup to rapidly scale nationally. You’ll work closely with our learning team and a seasoned founder and CEO to identify and pursue the best customer segments and drive conversion onto our platform. You will be our first Business Development Director in charge of outreach and conversion of small business owners, organizations, associations, and some influencers. You will set goals for the BD Team and develop strategies to ensure those goals are met. We’ve got an incredible market demand and working with an experienced and talented team, access to our best practices and Hubspot, you will immediately jump in and help identify the strategy and execution to help drive the team to new heights.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Not all are required; if you have some of the below - we encourage you to apply!

  • 2+ years business dev and sales experience required (more experience is highly welcome)
  • Extensive experience in cold calling, cold emailing, and numerous types of prospecting
  • Ability to both open and close sales (full sales cycle) as necessary
  • Experience in selling into small businesses & organizations
  • Ability to effectively build outbound and inbound campaigns and funnels
  • Experience with CRM software (we use HubSpot) and campaign automation
  • Experience in meeting and exceeding sales quotas
  • Experience in business development (not just sales) is a big plus
  • Experience on small, fast-moving teams or startups is preferred

YOUR DAY TO DAY:

As a Business Development Director you will have one of the most exciting jobs on our team – reaching out to organizations & associations, subject matter experts, local creators, and influencers across the country, identifying their pain points, and driving facilitators onto our platform. You will understand the need to increase the value of our current clients, while attracting new ones. In most companies you’re selling things that have limited to no positive impact; at Klatch, you’re selling a solution that is rapidly transforming the world of adult education and the lives of everyone it touches. In your new role at Klatch, you’ll start by cold calling, emailing, and building a sales funnel and process and then hire and may eventually even train up your own outbound sales team, commissioned for your team’s work!

You should have experience in developing and implementing a process for cold calling, sales, business development, and/or marketing - be incredibly amiable and while you should be able to hit a large volume of outreach, given our early stage nature & very small and nimble team, we expect you to be able to think strategically and creatively about customer needs, segmentation, and refine your pitch and targeting accordingly without much direction. You should be able to research and cultivate an accurate perception of the organization’s mission and goals. You should be highly structured and be able to move customers through the funnel while communicating learnings to the rest of the team. As the first BD Director at Klatch, you will work closely not only with our learning team but also our CEO to translate your learnings into action across the company. You will also invest heavily in B2B outreach of organizations, associations that have many instructors and little to no solution for a robust platform to host their workshops. LOCATION:

Greater Miami & Ft. Lauderdale areas preferable for in-person 2 to 3 days per week. Will consider exceptional candidates who are remote. "Office hours" are from 9 am - 5:30 pm EST but generally startup hours are 50 hours per week.

COMPENSATION:

$40-50k base + expected $20-$70k annual commission dependent on your results (or more as you build the team!). Possible equity as additional performance bonus. Competitive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and disability.
