We're looking for a Back End Developer to join our team and help take our Web Dashboard and App to the next level and make CheckN indisputably the best experience in our category through high-quality user experiences. The ideal candidate will receive the unique career opportunity to work across multiple product teams. You will have visibility to all aspects of product development, and collaborate closely with our design, product, and engineering teams to push new features that will improve the experience of hundreds of thousands to millions of people. Technology stack: Node.js, Redis, Elastic Search, AWS Elastic Beanstack, MongoDB, Stocket.io, RabbitMQ, AWS serverless, Bitbucket, Restless API development, AWS XRay and Lens, JMeter.

Responsibilities include:

• 15+ years of strong experience in production support development on a live product that has been used by 500k+ users. We are taking our MVP to scale and need someone who understands how to properly scale our live product.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with other functions, such as designers, product managers, data scientists, marketing, and business development to deliver a great product to understand requirements, brainstorm, and prototype solutions.
• Responsible for shipping CheckN’s platform features from conception to design, prototype, implementation, and launch.
• Define easy-to-use yet powerful external, developer-facing APIs, and provide developer tooling and documentation to enable an exceptional experience for integration.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to optimize code and develop in production back-end enhancements with urgent request rates and high SLA requirements.
• Experience with both front-end and back-end technologies in a B2B or B2C web production environment with strong knowledge of compatibility and cross-browser issues.
• Experience working with off-shore resources to deliver and maintain codebase. Build protective measures against API misuse, and incorporate rigorous security controls to protect end users’ data.
• Eagerness to take and turn mockups into various web languages The ability to adapt to the different stages of product development. This can mean building intentionally scrappy code to iterate quickly for alpha testing, or building a sustainable system that will support our product for millions of users for years to come.
• An appreciation for the connection between the software you build and the experience it delivers to customers.
• Proficiency in at least one server-side language and an enthusiasm to learn others. Our engineers have all kinds of backgrounds and are encouraged to move freely across our technology stack.
• The ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers of varying experience levels. Constantly monitor and improve the codebase and discover bottlenecks, and load issues, provide ways to rapidly scale existing products, and be ready for new features.

Minimum Requirements:

• Has 10+ years of experience working in a highly scalable consumer product, or an enterprise SaaS environment.
• Has exceptional knowledge in computer-science fundamentals, algorithms, data structures, and modern programming languages—and Java experience is a huge plus.
• Ability to create an engineering culture with a strong emphasis on documentation, testing, and user experience.
• Experience building complex systems on top of AWS infrastructure. A plus—experience developing external-facing APIs implementing authentication, security, and abuse-prevention controls.
• Ability to keep a calm temperament and work under pressure with a sense of urgency when things break.
