Department Summary
The Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health is a new Portland-based institute that will provide a bold new approach to addressing the behavioral and mental health care needs of Oregon’s children. The Ballmer Institute was made possible by a lead gift of more than $425 million from Connie and Steve Ballmer, co-founders of Ballmer Group Philanthropy.

The Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health at the University of Oregon will be the first of its kind, establishing a new model for behavioral and mental health care, and the most comprehensive effort undertaken by a U.S. university and its partners, creating a new model of care.

The Ballmer Institute, the UO will:
• Develop a new level of behavioral health practitioners through new undergraduate degree and certificate programs. The new degree program is subject to state approval.
• Deliver science-based early detection, prevention, and treatment strategies directly into the lives of children and their families.
• Accelerate the discovery and dissemination of new technologies and research informed by clinical context.
• Provide scholarships through a $100 million endowment to graduate a new, diverse and culturally rich workforce prepared to work directly with those in need.

Position Summary
The Clinical Partnership Liaison is a strategic partner to The Ballmer Institute leadership team and faculty providing academic expertise to manage, expand, and develop clinical partnerships across schools, hospitals and clinics, community agencies, and public health settings in support of the Ballmer Institute’s core mission. The Clinical Partnership Liaison is an ambassador of the behavioral health field and the main point of contact for promising, new, and existing clinical sites. The Clinical Partnership Liaison builds and sustains trusting and collaborative relationships ensuring that each partnership operates effectively and is aligned with the Institute’s strategic plan as well as compliant with the regulatory, accreditation, and scope and standards of professional practice.

In addition to this externally facing role, the Clinical Partnership Liaison regularly interacts with faculty and students. Serving as a bridge between research and practice, the Clinical Partnership Liaison works with faculty and leadership to initiate and/or contribute to innovations in curricular programming, clinical practice, and research. Additionally, the Clinical Partnership Liaison provides broad oversight to students participating in the clinical sequence and is expected to teach courses related to their area of expertise (time permitted).

This position will require up to 50% travel to clinical sites across the Portland metro area with occasional travel outside this area. Due to these travel requirements and the need to travel to areas not commonly served by public transportation, the incumbent will be expected to drive a University vehicle (or their personal vehicle) to these areas, requiring them to receive Drivers Certification under current UO Policies and Procedures.
