The Role

This is a unique opportunity to be at the epicentre of innovation and the startup community in South Australia. Based at Lot Fourteen, Stone & Chalk’s Startup Success & Community Manager plays a critical role in building a thriving startup ecosystem and supporting the growth of South Australia’s leading startups and scaleups.

Our residents (startups within the hub) will be your highest priority - you have a passion for delivering proactive customer service with exceptional communication skills. You enjoy liaising with customers in a proactive way and resolve issues as quickly as possible.

The resident journey is yours to shape - You will own the end-to-end experience for residents from when they are on-boarded until they graduate. This includes anything from helping them understand the basics of the infrastructure we provide, to making sure they participate in all the programs they need to help them grow and commercialise, including:

Customers - managing requests for introduction to corporate partners and vice versa (managing corporate partners’ requests for introductions to/pitches from our residents) in close consultation with our partnerships team. Encouraging participation in the B2B sales program when launched. On the ground responsibility for large-scale ‘demo’ day-style events.

Capital - managing requests for assistance with capital raising by facilitating entry into our investor program. Similarly facilitating introductions from VCs or other investors who want to meet specific S&C startups in close consultation with our EIR and Head of Community Programs. Organising all ‘on the ground’ activities such as events and interviews to support our investor program.

Expertise - facilitating the recruitment of mentees into our bi-annual mentor program. As with our other programs, organising all ‘on the ground’ activities such as events and interviews to support our mentor program.

Talent - encouraging participation in talent acquisition programs such as Fintern Fever and use of our bespoke Ribit / S&C portal for S&C residents only. Facilitating the connection between residents and students / other available talent as required.

Communicating our residents’ success at S&C and to the broader ecosystem - through Stone Press, Slack, Sweet Spot, and through social media, but more importantly by joining the dots and forming new connections amongst S&C residents, corporate partners, mentors, and our investor network.

Creating and curating the rituals/social events/skills studios that bring our residents together - based on residents’ professional development needs, community programs, and other events that create a thriving community.

Ecosystem engagement - delivering tours of Stone & Chalk for prospective startups, special visitors, corporate partners, trade delegations, and Government officials.

Pipeline management - always scanning the ecosystem for suitable startups/scaleups to join S&C, and interviewing prospective residents to assess their suitability.

Teamwork begins by building trust. You will be part of a small team and have a close working relationship with the GM, Head of Impact Network, Customer Manager - Facilities Manager, Hub Coordinator and SA Node Manager, contributing to each other’s success. Above all else, show the data. You will provide key statistics on our residents and where they are placed in their journey from onboarding to participating in various programs and community events.
