Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer (QA)

We are looking for the right people to join our well-funded, growing open source startup and to help us to continue to build exciting technology that makes our users happy. Right now, we are looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team, based in US (Austin, TX) or Europe in Berlin, Konstanz, or Zurich.

Who are you?

You are an experienced QA engineer who loves to systematically test and benchmark software and services that we build. More precisely:

You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar quantitative field.
You have few years of experience as a software tester or quality assurance engineer in agile software development teams.
You have worked with QA tools like HP ALM, XRAY, TestRail, Jira, Confluence.
You have worked with testing frameworks such as Junit, pyTest. Pycharm.
You know how to write automation scripts with common scripting languages such as Java or Python.
You have worked with QA automation tools like Robot Framework, Conformiq Selenium, Playwright.
You have familiarity with Jenkins or other CI/CD systems and have written jobs/pipelines.
You have familiarity with API tools such as REST-assured, Postman (or any API testing tool), and worked with RESTful web services.
Since we are a multinational company, proficient English language skills (both oral and written) are mandatory. If you know German, it is a plus.

Nice-to-haves includes:

• You have experience in one or more mainstream programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
• You have been working with web-based applications, desktop applications (e.g. based on Eclipse), and you also have experience in installing lower-level programs such as message brokers (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ) or application servers (Tomcat).
• You have familiarity with JMeter or any testing load tool.
• Creating and monitoring performance tests.

What’s the job?

We are looking for a software quality assurance engineer who helps us maintaining and improving our software quality, especially for our new microservice-based collaboration platform KNIME Hub. This includes tasks such as:

• Building test plans in close collaboration with the development team.
• Help us build a solid automated test repository.
• Creating and monitoring automated E2E tests for our microservice-based cloud-native products.
• Defining protocols for UI tests.
• Carrying out UI tests and ideally also automating parts that can be automated.
• Validation and user acceptance testing of new features.
