Director of Finance

We are looking for a financial leader to join our team in Ottawa. Reporting into the CEO, the Director of Finance will lead all our financial planning processes, accounting operations, investment decision analysis, and development of business insights. You’ll play a key role collaborating with the senior leadership team helping to influence Noibu’s future and strategies across the business. Using advanced modelling skills you’ll help us to grow responsibly and intentionally to our large goals and help us validate the financial aspects of business decisions.

What you’ll be doing

• Anticipate capital needs to support high growth through both debt and equity.
• Own the financial forecast model, updating and editing it alongside our leadership team.
• Manage the accurate reporting and communication of company financials, forecasts and companywide metrics to our leadership team
• Manage and lead all accounting operations and team
• Support the management team by modelling decisions and strategy to set targets, and then track and measure the results
• Manage risks, take a proactive approach, and keep an eye on anything that could potentially slow down the company’s growth and evolution. Be the go-to person that leads to mitigation of these risks (financial/business).
• Oversee financial results, profitability, capital expenses, and tax planning while ensuring compliance with regulations on taxes and reporting and making sure the necessary internal controls are in place.
• Manage payroll and employee stock option plans including cap table via Carta
• Setup and manage SRED/IRAP expense tracking
• Responsible for real estate including leasing and property
• Responsible for IT with fractional team to start and direct reports in the future

You should have

• Leadership and management experience leading the finance function at a high-growth SaaS startup
• CPA/CA designated
• Experience working in both a strategic and operational capacity to lead/partner on business objectives
• Proven ability to recommend, influence, develop, and implement policies and programs that guide business units to improve competitive positioning and profitability
• Mastery of accounting principles and financial software (Carta and Quickbooks Online)
• Strong financial modeling skills including expert proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets or significant experience in other data analysis and dashboarding tools
• Strong understanding of the technology industry and its success metrics/drivers/processes
