OpenStack Cloud System Engineer

Role Summary - OpenStack Cloud System Engineer
Location: Mumbai, India

Role & Responsibilities:

• Deploy and test OpenStack cloud
• Troubleshoot encountered issues and provide solutions
• Must be focused, proactive and responsive to changing requirements
• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical audience
• Review cloud performance and make the Cloud Developer team aware of shortcomings that should be resolved in future releases.
• Perform continuous monitoring of the cloud and develop, test and deploy fixes for issues observed and reported.
• System-level support, consulting and architectural recommendation of all platform-related processes for our internal and external cloud.
• Development of new processes and involvement in project work.
• Report incidents.

Required Skill-set:

• Certified OpenStack Administrator. Managing, Installing, Configuring, Deploying, Troubleshooting and administering OpenStack Platform and its associated modules
• Experience in monitoring and performing Health Checks, installing patches
• Experience in monitoring overall infrastructure (ex, using Zabbix, Prometheus) and monitoring of space and capacity usage including compute clusters, block storage
• Orchestration and automation using, Ansible, Heat, Chef
• Knowledge about the inner workings of the Ceph and Swift storage platforms
• Deep understanding of IP networking and protocols
• Very Strong Linux skillset Capable of administrative tasks and complex troubleshooting
• Shell scripting, Phyton
• Detailed knowledge of Linux and virtualization(KVM) (administration, networking, troubleshooting). CentOS experience is a plus.
• UCS Blade, Rack type x86 server hardware management and configuration
• Software-Defined Storage(ex, Ceph) configuration and administration
• Network Function Virtualization and hardware network switch such as cisco FI
• Experience running OpenStack in production
• Experience in scripting and software development (Python, Bash).
• Experience in the use of open-source tools and systems; comfortable with open source community and collaborative merit-based work where all ideas are heard and the best ones are implemented.
• 3+ years experience with OpenStack Private Cloud, Ceph, Proxmox VE, and iSCSI

Preferred Skill-set:

• Ability to drill down on a problem yourself and solve bigger issues in a team.
• Data Centre work experience (DC work is only occasionally required).
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to think strategically and execute quality output.
• Strong time-management skills.
• Experience using and handling Git, MariaDB, RabbitMQ, Proxmox VE
