The Role

*Village of Wisdom is seeking a dynamic leader to advance our growing organization’s impact through an overhaul of our organizational operations including the development and evolution of team routines, systems, and infrastructure. *

What You Will Do

*Responsibilities and Duties *

Overall responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations necessary to ensureVOW achieves its strategic goals, works with all teams to align goals and implementation plans, and monitors progress to keep the team on track.

*Operational Leadership and Management *

  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility to goals, progress, and obstacles for VOW’s key initiatives
  • Design and manage reporting and analysis frameworks to facilitate ongoing performance management across VOW’s strategic plan and priorities and goals and support overall effectiveness and impact of the team by flagging trends, risks, and challenge areas for the team
  • Develop and execute an internal communication strategy to engage and streamline teams’ strategic direction and operations as well lead efforts to ensure parents,schools, and other partners are informed ofVOWs strategic vision and direction
  • Oversee critical organizational operations--including budget, finance, vendor/consultant management, human resources, office, and team culture, and office operations ensuring that VOW’s overall culture and decision-making aligns with VOW’s values and organizational needs
  • Through regular check-ins andVOW’s performance development cycle, align progress to goals, professional development, job satisfaction, and team contributions to theVOW performance development cycle
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to direct reports, operates with a high level of emotional intelligence, and manages interpersonal dynamics, identifies strengths and development opportunities within the team

*Nurturing a Culture of Success and Sustained Impact *

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to monitor and evaluateVOW’s progress to achieve vision and strategy, integrating internal and external voices and perspectives
  • Assist Executive Director and team leads to develop rigorous and robust progress monitoring and impact assessments with clear annual and quarterly priorities to ensure resource alignment and implementation of lessons learned
  • Provide thought partnership, project planning, and management for organizational initiatives while coordinating communication and collaboration across teams
  • Lead operational planning to ensure resource alignment withVOW’s priorities to reach our long-term vision
  • Establish and adhere to project timelines, outline resources required, and regularly assess progress toward goals and key milestones,surfacing concerns and identifying opportunities to adjust organizational strategy to deepen impact and provide decision support, when needed
  • Convenes and coordinates regular staff and team meetings to celebrate successes, address gaps in execution, and maximize learning across subteam

WhatWe’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Has at least 7-10+ years’ relevant work experience in project management and organizational operations in non-profit organizations preferred
  • 2-5+ years of relevant people management and leadership experience
  • Has a keen analysis of and deep personal commitment to anti-oppressive theory and practice, particularly in the areas of race, class, and gender, as well as can explain aspects of critical race theory and its application within the US education system
  • Has rich experience in different expressions of Blackness and comfort with the Black ethos Experience with “big picture” thinking; establishing organization-wide priorities and goals in conjunction with peers; organizes and leads strategic planning sessions; balancing organizational objectives and resources; defining measures of success to evaluate progress
  • Experience with hiring and separation decisions; Setting goals and empowering team members to achieve shared goals; providing coaching and career guidance to team members; identifying and managing performance issues; comfortable with difficult conversations

Preferences

  • Experience in startup non-profit organizations
  • Experience liaising with consultants to move focused project work forward Tech-savvy

*Remuneration *

The package will be competitive and commensurate with the skills and experiences of the successful candidate with a starting salary range of $70,000-$95,000. Village ofWisdom also offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Our healthcare benefits include medical, dental, vision, and Health FSA coverage with the option to include dependents.We offer 15 vacation days in addition to paid holidays, as well as a 3% match retirement plan.
