EMAX Overview

EMAX’s mission is to accelerate digital energy transition to support the EU and global clean energy goals. We focus on empowering customers, creating more market participation, supporting network operators and suppliers in their digital initiatives, and building reliable decentralized platforms, where market players can come together and trade energy.
Our key projects and experience include energy trading and market platforms powered by Blockchain and IoT, integrating more renewable energy and grid flexibility using storage and grid technologies, enabling peer-to-peer trading and demand response. We have also launched an AI empowered customer energy monitoring solution and plan to integrate additional grid and utility services.

General position description

In order to support our activities in the energy sector, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic Product Owner to join our team in Brussels to help us develop innovation products for clean energy. If you are passionate and inspired to deliver digital products that will disrupt energy market, we want to hear from you!

As a Product Owner will be directly responsible for ensuring prioritisation and successful execution of EMAX products’ roadmap. You will work closely with colleagues in the business team on vision and strategy, as well as with the IT team to build up the platform. Your responsibilities will include: creating high-quality user stories, developing the products in line with KPIs through constant iterations, defining acceptance criteria and conducting in-depth analysis to understand customer needs. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders, developers and designers to ensure user experience is exceptional and consistent.

Some products developed by EMAX are part of the Horizon 2020 INTERRFACE and FLEXI-GRID projects. Product delivery tasks will require research, stakeholder discussions, report submissions, knowledge dissemination and collaboration with project partners.

Working time will be distributed between product development and the EU project delivery (60:40). Starting date: as soon as possible.

*Key responsibilities *

• Defining product vision, roadmap and providing direction to the team and stakeholders throughout the project
• Articulating product & services roadmap into backlog of detailed technical requirements, leading and facilitating the development team’s work, prioritizing product backlog, applying agile/scrum workflows to design visually compelling and highly usable digital solutions for energy
• Conducting product-market fit validation, identifying customer touchpoints, discovering beta-users’ feedback on user flows, identifying need for change, tracking OKRs, organising demos for stakeholders
• Taking an active role in mitigating issues impacting the team for the completion of release/sprint
• Competition mapping and making recommendations on differentiated product requirements and positioning
• Providing direct inputs and contributing to ongoing H2020 innovation projects INTERRFACE & FLEXI-GRID. You will represent company to interact with many leading companies within the consortia and external stakeholders
• Support the team in the development of proposals, presentations and demo content (e.g. events, conferences and webinars)

Required skills

• Master’s in energy, computer science, IT, Business or similar relevant field
• 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, or strong related experience
• Some experience working on renewable energy creating cool tech is a strong plus (e.g. solar panels, electric vehicles, heat pumps, DSR, IoT)
• Solid understanding of technical delivery processes, including mobile, web, back-end, design, etc.
• Experience in agile project management and methodologies (including scrum)
• Experience with Jira or other software project development tools
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and in writing
• You enjoy engaging with problems. What we’re building is complex. You’ll need to propose practical and creative solutions.
• You are self-motivated with the ability to manage diverse relationships, comfortable to adapt in fast-moving environment and changing priorities
• Open minded, multi-culture, innovative and willing to learn
• Fluency in English, Knowledge of Dutch or French is an advantage
