Job Overview:
Alt-Bionics, Inc. is at the forefront of revolutionizing the bionic hand industry. We're seeking an experienced and versatile Senior Electrical Engineer to lead our hardware and software development for the humanoid robotics version of our advanced bionic hand. You will also support operations for our prosthetic hand. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply passionate about creating innovative engineering solutions and is committed to continuous learning and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of hardware and software systems for our humanoid robotic hand, focusing on PCB design, firmware development, and motor control (both brushed and brushless).
- Develop high-level system designs that meet project vision and objectives.
- Design and implement schematics and wiring diagrams that ensure optimal layout and system protection.
- Manage component selection and integration, ensuring seamless signal distribution and system functionality.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers and other team members for holistic product development.
- Conduct regular team meetings to align goals, set targets, and review technical designs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in PCB design, firmware development, and motor implementation (both brushed and brushless).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus a minimum of 7 years in industry projects that have been deployed. (Alternative to a degree: 10+ years in industry)
- Proficiency in iterative design processes and workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Advanced skills in multi-layer PCB design for compact devices.
- Hands-on experience with motor control systems, including tuning and optimization.
- Proficiency in firmware development for various controllers and processors.
- Familiarity with electrical CAD tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, or KiCad.
- Experience in integrating electrical systems with mechanical and software components.
- Rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration capabilities.
- Knowledge of communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, etc.
- Expertise in power electronics, battery management, and energy-efficient design.
- Strong collaboration skills, particularly in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities for complex engineering challenges.
- Passion for staying abreast of the latest in electrical engineering and related fields.
- Project management experience, including managing timelines and resources.
- Ability to produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation.
