The Role

Position location: Boston, MA

We are seeking an IT professional with an entrepreneurial spirit to be the Senior Informational Technology Advisor, working out of our 40 Guest Street location in Brighton, MA.

You will work on the IT team to provide PC/Server hardware support and expertise directly to the SmartLabs IT team, end users and with critical internal IT functions. Your responsibilities will include verification of system jobs and processes, administrative tasks, and assisting team members in a timely manner. You will need to be a knowledgeable and experienced technician that is responsible for all aspects of team member’s technology and requests.

You must be highly self-motivated, always professional, and able to prioritize your workload in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Things change fast and frequently here, so we need someone at the top of their game who can shift gears, change directions, and keep going at pace. You have to be a smart, strategic thinker and a tactical executer. Communication skills and excellent engagement all come into play here and you will use them every day. This position is perfect for an IT professional interested in accelerating the pace of innovation by using agility and iteration to take risks and re-examine processes.

In this role, you will help with:

  • PC/Server hardware troubleshooting, maintenance and repair
  • Windows desktop and server software installation and configuration
  • Respond to team member’s calls and emails promptly
  • Organize, monitor and track multiple activities, projects or requests at once
  • Build and install PCs, phone systems, wireless networks and other devices related to desktop infrastructure
  • Maintain installed PCs, laptop networks, phone systems and devices with routine maintenance
  • Identify, log and resolve technical problems with software applications or network systems
  • Identify potential changes and system improvements to present to team leaders for consideration and implementation
  • Maintain request database with up to ate solutions and clear record of activities
  • Explain and document technical issues in a clear and concise way to members
  • Use a combination of your systems and desktop experience to act as a mentor to IT Associates

Professional qualifications include:
• You have a track record of success and experience in a rapidly-scaling venture or private-equity backed organization, Biotechnology industry preferred.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Technology or Engineering.

• Strong computer and technology skills with proficiency in collaborative tools.
• Excellent customer service in face to face, telephone or electronic interaction with team members
• Good understanding of computer support and troubleshooting.
• Ability to learn new tools and applications when and where needed.
