Head of Design

Are you a creative, passionate designer with strong communication skills who is interested in revolutionizing healthcare at scale?

If so, you’re the perfect fit for SAFE! We’re looking for an experienced Head of Design to join our fast-paced health technology startup. As Head of Design, you must have a strong understanding of visual design, user research, and mobile and web design best practices. Prior experience in the health care industry is a plus!

What you’ll be doing at SAFE:
• Partner with our teams to design elegant solutions to complex issues
• Lead and manage our brand's design
• Lead new projects from mockup to production
• Work with the product team to monitor and iterate on existing products
• Improve product design and suggest UX improvements
• Build and update our brand guidelines and create a standardized design across the site
• Implement design standards across all marketing materials and create emails, landing pages, and graphics that match SAFE’S brand
• Hire, manage, and direct a team of freelance resources for any additional design needs

What you’ll need to bring:

• BA/BS degree in human-centered design, user experience, design communication, or related field or work experience as a designer
• 5+ years of professional digital UX/UI design experience • An eye for detail, use of color, space, and materials to communicate • A passion and obsession for great design • A designer with experience working at a startup, or building and implementing design standards from the ground up • Someone with experience designing a mobile app past prototype stage, ideally with experience integrating live user or customer feedback • A designer who is flexible and passionate about working with other teams, overseeing design progress within the development cycle and acting as a product manager if need be. • Experience in complex designs, particularly financial or transactional in nature • Experience designing landing pages, product pages, digital assets, ads, emails and collateral a plus • Ability to design in Figma and / or Sketch Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Blender, 3DS, Maya or similar • Ability to have a strong opinion on design and ability to support decisions through experience or education. • A solid portfolio of digital and non-digital projects in a variety of mediums • Ability to thrive in a fast pace exciting environment
