What is Tandem?

Tandem is a virtual office for remote teams. Tandem was in Y-Combinator's S19 batch with a seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

It started with 3 cofounders who met at previous startups acquired by Yahoo. Two of the cofounders had children and discovered the challenges of working effectively from home; even with the best tools.

They built Tandem to change the work experience for all workers - give remote work the collaborative flow of being in-person.

*What You Will Be Working On

You can look forward to human-centric responsibilities that include:

Building user-facing features & prototypes on our Electron app, React Native mobile app, & website using React, Typescript, & Elixir to create that "working in tandem" feeling.

Helping to scale our backend system to support hundreds of thousands of concurrent users and make their experiences seamless.

Working with the Audio/Video team to provide a calling experience that mirrors working together side by side in real life.

You find clean code and clean architecture irresistible. You're not afraid of new challenges and learning about things that may be unfamiliar like WebRTC or Elixir.
