React / React Native - Full Stack Developer | Farming Robotics

What we’re building: At Farmhand, we’re making low-cost robotics available to small scale farmers to help reduce the impact of labor shortages and enable farmers to grow more food for their communities. We currently have a system to automate organic weeding practices and we’re adding capabilities for planting and cover crop management over the next 12 months. Who we’re looking for: We’re completing functional and performance testing this summer and gearing up to launch our first systems across the country to early adopters. We’re looking to bring on our first full stack developer to focus on customer facing applications and internal fleet monitoring. We rely heavily on Python, Mongo, Influx and React and will be leveraging React Native for mobile applications and local control of our farm robots through wifi and bluetooth.

Where we are: Farmhand Automation is based in Biddeford, Maine, just 20 minutes outside of downtown Portland. Think of it as the Brooklyn of Maine. We offer a $2k relocation stipend for moving expenses, and the Portland area offers beaches, incredible food and a cost of living 30% lower than major metros. Progressive pay scale with benefits. We operate on a flat pay scale across all team members, including CEO pay. We offer $65K, plus 4 weeks PTO, Health, Vision and Dental insurance. We also offer company wide raises as we make profits in 2022/23, and we are actively looking into full employee ownership of the company within 2-3 years.

Awesome opportunity to learn. We are open to people earlier in their career with strong CS fundamentals and full stack experience. We’re moving into the mobile app world with React Native and looking for someone who’s ready to sink their teeth into that challenge. We also have a fairly advanced IoT structure including cellular, cloud and bluetooth interacting together to create a seamless experience.
