The Role

Bleximo develops hardware and technologies for the emergent quantum computing industry. We design and manufacture first-generation practical quantum computing systems, which address complex problems in materials science, machine learning, pharmacology, finance, defense, and more. Our systems utilize cryogenic superconducting qubits and microwave integrated circuit technology; their creation requires close multidisciplinary collaboration among Bleximo’s scientists and engineers, as well as academic and corporate clients.

We prioritize candidates who bring positive energy and exceptional skills to the Bleximo team. As a rapidly growing company with a highly creative and fast-paced work environment, we value team members who habitually orient themselves to the right problems and offer thoughtful solutions. Social aptitude and a willingness to learn unfamiliar technical topics are a must.

The Mechanical & Cryo Team spearheads the overall design and deployment of superconducting quantum computing systems; in particular, it is responsible for the seamless integration of quantum processors, wiring, and OEM microwave devices into complete systems. You will contribute to all aspects of the development, manufacturing, and deployment of these systems. The cryogenic, mechanical, and microwave components for these complex systems are primarily custom designed by us. They require exceptional manufacturing quality and must carefully match to their design specifications.

As an Automation Engineer, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations in the Mechanical & Cryo Team, you will also work closely with our Microfabrication, Processor, and Quantum Test & Measurement teams to ensure that our systems can be built and deployed on-time and on-budget. This hands-on position will require understanding the system’s design and operation principles, as well as the functionality of individual parts and components. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are the keys to your success at Bleximo.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize manufacturing and procurement schedules, supporting the Mechanical & Cryo Team’s hardware design, documentation, manufacturing, assembly integration, testing, and quality processes.
  • Streamline sensitive manufacturing workflows using built-in automations and APIs from Airtable, Confluence, Jira, Google Suite, Slack, Zapier, and more.
  • Improve and maintain a relational database that acts as a single source of truth for manufacturing data across the entire company.
  • Process POs and communicate with vendors in our manufacturing network.
  • Identify data silos and operational challenges across teams, propose effective solutions that contribute to the vision of a single source of truth across the entire company, and work to implement them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or related field
  • 3+ years professional experience with quantitative analysis and modeling in Python, SQL, JavaScript, Airtable, or similar tools
  • Excellent communication skills well-suited for collaboration with a diverse team of scientists and engineers
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Able to work primarily onsite from our Berkeley headquarters with some remote work opportunities
  • Occasional travel across the Bay Area as needed to maintain vendor and collaborator relationships

Bonus Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline
  • Professional experience in a hardware-intensive field (aerospace, consumer hardware, medical devices, contract manufacturing, etc)
  • Startup experience
  • Advanced Airtable or database proficiencies
  • Exposure to international quality management systems standards like ISO:9001
  • Familiarity with collaboration and productivity platforms like Atlassian suite tools and Google suite tools (or similar)
  • Advanced knowledge of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, and REST APIs preferred)

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Stock options
  • 100% employer-covered Kaiser Silver health plan, including full coverage for dependents
  • Option for Kaiser Gold or Blue Shield PPO upgrade
  • Vision and dental coverage
  • 401(k) plan
  • Life insurance
  • Dog-friendly workplace
  • Location: Bleximo is located in Berkeley CA. Our HQ is easily accessible via the Ashby freeway exit or the Ashby BART station + AC Transit Line 36. Our neighborhood is extremely walk and bike friendly, with nearby restaurants, cafes, stores, and community spaces.
