Full-Stack Engineer

The Tech Lead role
We're growing our team and you’ll be our first engineering hire, with the empowerment to establish and lead our tech function. As AVIONE’s first engineer, you will be responsible for architecting and building our infrastructure, mobile app and website, from the ground up. You'll work with our Design Lead to gain a deep understanding of our users, craft effective features to solve their problems, and bring our evolving product to life. We want someone who is comfortable asking “why?”; a divergent thinker with a “disruptor” mindset, who understands industry best practices and has experience with multiple coding languages. Ideally, you're someone who has worked with startups, designers & marketers before, and are comfortable making decisions around both technology and the business.

What you’ll do

• Help set the technical goals, vision and strategy for the platform, working with the leadership team (including execs and advisors) to drive the product roadmap
• Build and lead a small team of talented engineers who will write well designed, testable, efficient code, following software development best practices
• Help develop the company’s technology strategy to ensure alignment with business goals
• Define, architect and implement the business’ tech stack, underlying technologies and partner integrations
• Partner with the leadership team to prioritise and align elements to wider company strategy and vision; this might often require the conviction to make calls between a complicated range of stakeholder needs and requests
• Collaborate closely with our Design Lead to shape an exciting product experience for our users

What we’re looking for

• You are passionate about our mission and genuinely committed to developing a business that always acts in the customer’s best interest
• You have designed and owned an architecture from scratch; you have proven experience managing the full development cycle, from conception, architecture definition, design, scoping, planning, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery and maintenance
• You have experience leading agile teams against a product roadmap; you have an enthusiasm around shipping iterations early and often
• You have an eye for design and demonstrable experience collaborating with visual and UX designers
• You have a BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
• You’re proficient in the tools of your trade, and have experience developing web applications on modern web frameworks
