Job Description

We are looking for an “hands-on” experienced Product Design Manager with exceptional creative skills and customer focus to join our team in the Washington, DC area. Product Design at Storyblocks leads in the improvement of the user experience (UX), creating visuals that our customers will love (UI) and understanding the interaction of users with our products (User Research). By working closely with product management, engineering and marketing you will drive a design team to achieve the company’s vision of being the first and last place a creative goes when starting new projects.
The ideal candidate is a great team leader and communicator, has a strong portfolio, a keen eye for details, leads on best UX/UI practices, follows current web trends, and has a passion for all things product design. He or she must be a team player and be able deliver under tight deadlines.

*Research customer needs, competitor products, trends and best practices. Use research data to support your team’s decision making. Lead design/user testing sessions.
*Prototype low-fidelity ways of solving problems and create (and lead the development of) comprehensive wireframes for solution exploration. Execute comprehensive process flows / screen flows
*Deliver solutions that improve the user experience and the visual design
*Lead translation of strategic priorities into a design roadmap with detailed user stories that deliver customer and company value. Maintain the pipeline of user stories by collecting requirements, establishing test cases and coordinating introduction of changes with other teams and stakeholders.
*Lead a human-centered design process that frames business and customer problems. Build empathy and be a customer advocate in our product development process
*Apply design trends/technologies and user experience best practices.
*Establish product design processes and guidelines as well as provide cross-functional leadership among different functional groups, most often between engineering, marketing, sales, and support. Maintain brand and design standards
*Manage a small group of designers by providing overall design direction to your team and drive discussion and activities to achieve the maximum success of our products.
*Mentor your peers all while staying humble and learning from each other.
*Be instrumental in building a design practice characterized by user focus, continuous learning, strategic impact, and a healthy and growing team

Desired Applicant Skills and Experience:
*4+ years of Product design, UX/UI experience with a proven track record of successfully delivering new user experiences and/or features
*Track record of researching and designing user experiences using user-centered design
*Preferred to have previously led a product design group focusing on web applications
*Proactive problem solver who operates effectively and independently, even in areas of uncertainty and ambiguity
*Strong communication skills to champion user-centric design culture with the ability to collaborate & communicate with a wide range of team members from every function and at every level
*Must be proficient in Sketch, Adobe CC, and Invision
*Experience with JavaScript, HTML/CSS a plus
*Knowledge of design systems and component based design a plus
*Experience in subscription products and B2B marketplaces a plus
*Experience with A/B testing and sprint planning a plus
*Google Analytics and SQL experience a huge plus
*BA/BS degree
