What is the office environment like?
We are collaborative and open, always encouraging people to take risks and innovate. We follow the SCRUM framework for product development and are fairly disciplined in our approach to agile. That being said there is lots of room to experiment and push boundaries. Everything we do is new territory and weekly we uncover challenges that require some serious brain power. We try and employ design thinking whenever possible, which is a great tool to avoid group-think and ensure everyone's perspective is heard. The office itself is modern and well kept, 14th floor of the Guinness tower downtown. Overall we try really hard to grow everyone. Encouraging people to take risks and always pushing them to be better.
Kenny MacKenzie
Board Member at Vandrico
We have an open space along a corridor with desks on either side, ending with a large office that's shared by 4 people. We have over 100 wearable devices that we pull out whenever we need them. People flow into the office between 7:30-10:15 am, depending on their clocks... Actually, I'm usually the only one here for the first 2 hours. So more like 9:30-10:15 am. As a team, we are very close. We are often open and honest in dialogue. Encouraging everyone to speak candidly has had a great affect on bringing the team closer. We trust one another and I really feel like we have each other's backs. I wish I could share pictures here of the Vandrico family. In terms of challenges, we're always trying to take a bite of the biggest problems we can. Right now, we're working on a product that can save lives in an underground mine. We have to think about networks 2km underground in 16km of tunnel workings, with all types of metals, water and dynamite debris throwing our calculations off. Add realtime, 3D and wearables into the mix and you get the picture. If you're curious about us, come visit anytime!
