Note from Climate Capital

IMPORTANT – if you learned about Climate Capital via a referral, social media or other means outside of AngelList please note it in your application.

We’ve been investing in climate since 2015 & our portfolio includes dozens of notable companies with large-scale climate impact.

We believe the scale of the climate transitions (energy, ag, materials, etc.) and underlying environmental crisis creates a new kind of company – one that can achieve both systems-level impact and venture-scale returns; we welcome you to join us as we support these promising opportunities.

Portfolio: climatecapital.co; highlights include:

Exits include Amply (acquired by BP) & Blueprint Power (acquired by BP).

Investment Team:

Overview:
The CC Index Fund (CCIF; this fund) is functionally an AngelList rolling fund that invests $10k - $50k checks into the top 20-30 opportunities we see across domains each quarter, mostly at the pre-seed, seed, and Series A stage. In doing so, we believe we are effectively “indexing” early stage climate given our level of access.

Implied markups as of 07/01/2023 (includes SAFEs with higher valuations):
  • CC1 (Aug ‘19 - Apr ‘20): ~5.1x (incl Leap, Living Carbon, SINAI)
  • CC2 (Jun ‘20 - Dec ‘20): ~4.7x (incl NCX, Span, Kettle)
  • CCIF Q1'21: ~7.4x (incl Remora, Noya, Enode)
  • CCIF Q2'21: ~2.8x (incl Nitricity, Monarch Tractor, Lightship)
  • CCIF Q3'21: ~2.2x (incl Stable Auto, Waterplan, Arcadia)
  • CCIF Q4'21: ~1.4x (incl KoBold, WattCarbon, Cruz Foam)
  • CCIF Q1'22: ~1.3x (incl Rumin8, Carbon Crusher, Kopperfield)
We also have a Seed Fund, a Bio Fund, and we co-run the Climate Scout Fund — all of which are top-of-funnel for this Index Fund.

Why Climate Capital?
  • Our novel “micro fund + SPV” approach has allowed us to build an exceptional portfolio across domains, and one of the largest climate founder communities in the world.
  • Our community which consists of dozens of scouts, hundreds of founders, and thousands of syndicate LPs, combined with compelling content across newsletters, podcasts, and events, empowers us to more effectively deploy capital.
  • We regularly invest alongside Tier 1 firms including Lowercarbon, Obvious, Congruent, and Union Square.
  • We are one of the original climate-focused funds and accordingly get access by having been in the climate space for over a decade, and by working hard to support our founders & earn their referrals. Founders like that we invest early, make decisions quickly, and are fast to respond when they need support.
  • We have regular dealflow check-ins with several leading Series Seed & Series A climate-impact firms.
  • We run CC+, a private community of 200+ early-stage climate investors at leading firms.

We offer reduced carry for larger investments:
