At Traptic, we build farming robots. We are a venture-backed Bay Area startup that is saving US fruit and vegetable growers from a critical labor shortage. We deploy robotics, computer vision, and custom graspers in a novel machine that will harvest delicate crops quickly, cost effectively and at extremely high quality. As a robotics engineer, your contributions will play a pivotal role in our growing team, and you will have serious social impact by helping humanity to grow food more cheaply and sustainably. Responsibilities
• Design, build, and test farm robots
• Design and build packing system for closing, moving, and stacking clamshells of strawberries
• Develop large frame and suspension system for 3,000lb machine
• Optimize custom gripper for robustness and manufacturability
• Build realistic lab testing environment to support hardware and software development
• Collaborate closely with software engineers during each phase of the development process
• Travel to muddy farms to test your hardware

Required
• Pursuing B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Project experience
• Relocate to or live in Bay Area

Preferred
• Experience with Stress analysis
• Interest in design, simulation, and manufacturing
• Completed at least 2 years of B.S. degree
