At Traptic, we build farming robots. We are a venture-backed Bay Area startup that is saving US fruit and vegetable growers from a critical labor shortage. We deploy robotics, computer vision, and custom graspers in a novel machine that will harvest delicate crops quickly, cost effectively and at extremely high quality. As a robotics engineer, your contributions will play a pivotal role in our growing team, and you will have serious social impact by helping humanity to grow food more cheaply and sustainably. Responsibilities
• Develop full-stack software that runs farm robots
• Add functionality to understand plant structure and compute optimal approach paths based on that structure
• Improve accuracy, speed, and precision of neural network that detects ripe strawberries
• Improve accuracy of vision software that detects berry position despite occlusions, sensor noise and incomplete scene data
• Detect and compensate for motion of robot relative to ground to enable picking while moving
• Analyze current sensor suite and determine which sensors to add or change
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers during each phase of the development process
• Travel to muddy farms to test your software

Required
• B.S. or M.S. with focus on computer vision (or equivalent experience)
• Experience with Computer Vision
• Some experience with C++
• Live in or move to Bay Area (relocation assistance available)

Preferred
• Proficiency in Python and C++
• Familiarity with Deep Learning
