We're a small and fast growing team working on a difficult problem in the huge, under-served space of contingent work. Our team is made up of product focused engineers and designers who like to quickly ship new features and products to customers every day.
What We're Building
The way temporary employment works is broken, and Sense's mission is to fix that. By the end of 2020, 48% of the US Workforce will be engaged in contingent work, and they represent 7% of the GDP. We are reinventing the way companies build long-term relationship with this workforce by creating the industry's first talent engagement platform to drastically improve communication and job satisfaction. We believe this type of work is only going to get more common and it's our mission to design the best possible experience for these temporary workers through our engagement platform.
We have meaningful traction in the market and many happy, paying customers. You'll have the opportunity to work on a successful live product, take it to the next level and see your work used by users very quickly. We have an unusually good relationship with many of our customers, which presents the opportunity to speak to our users early and often about what we're building.
Design has been an integral part of our growing platform, and as a Product Design at Sense you will elevate the industry standard of design within the SaaS and HR space. This is an exciting opportunity to push the bounds of the industry and create a product that is unique and industry leading. You will be the sole designer to start but there's also an opportunity to be in charge of building out a world-class design team.
As the product designer, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the product design (UX/UI + Visual Design). You will be working alongside the engineering and product teams to help define and refine a systems design throughout our product. As a 25 person (and growing!) company, you'll get to work with and see all facets of how a growing startup operates.
Translate complex user flows into easy-to-use and empowering user experiences
Develop initial design concepts and then partner with the engineering team to bring them into implementation
Leverage our existing design system, while extending and evolving the system as you see the opportunity to do so
Collaborate closely with engineering and product leads on product direction and strategy
Partner with the front-end engineering team to align on best practices for implementation and utilization of the design system
We're looking for someone who has:
A strong portfolio showing understanding of complex design systems, and a demonstration of strong design process from early concepts to shipped products
Strong product thinking and problem-solving skills
An independent and self-motivated attitude
Strong communication skills and ability to articulate design decisions
Experience in SaaS is a plus
Experience working in an early-stage start-up is a plus
