Job Description

Founded in 2013, SALIDO continuously innovates hospitality technology so that operators can lower costs and increase profits. We are building the first-ever Restaurant Operating System that combines all operating needs on one cohesive platform. At their present state, restaurants are becoming less and less profitable. Rent, labor, food, and technology costs are constantly increasing and margins are endlessly shrinking. In order to combat this, they need the best technology that will give them control of their business. From our offices in Soho, New York City, we are dedicated to changing the way the hospitality industry operates, to create a system that is built for the best interests of restaurants all over the world.

Many companies are data driven, but being on the bleeding edge of the hospitality industry, we partner with Data to conquer a whole new world of challenges. Data is the center of our business—it drives the development of our platform, measures the effectiveness of our technology, and surfaces opportunities to improve how SALIDO operates. It is impossible to be at SALIDO and not feel the presence of Data.

Needless to say, as a member of the Engineering Team at SALIDO, you will be at the epicenter of an amazing company experiencing extreme growth and solving the challenges that come with scaling rapidly. Accessibility of insight requires accessibility of data; quality of insight requires quality of data. And everyone deserves accessibility to quality data.

As a Platform Engineer, you will be building and scaling a data workflow platform that enables reliable, trustworthy, and approachable data delivered to thousands of SALIDO platform users. Your software will model, curate and deliver data that powers core services at SALIDO.

-A skilled practitioner. You are well-versed in software and data design patterns. Your code is understandable, maintainable, and reusable.
-A fast learner. You thrive on applying your knowledge, learning new technologies and methodologies, and don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. You are able to adapt to meet the rapid pace of a rapidly evolving environment.
-Fearless. You think a working proof-of-concept is the best way to make a point. You believe that speed and quality are not conflicting; that you can achieve both at the same time.
-Versatile. In addition to having an intimate knowledge of core engineering fields, you understand how all the pieces fit together into integrated systems, and how they impact performance.
-Passionate. You feel ownership over everything you ship; you'd never call code "released" until you’re confident it’s correct. You have an innate desire to deliver and a strong sense of accountability for your work.
-A team player. You believe that you can achieve more on a team—that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You rely on others' candid feedback for continuous improvement.
-Product-oriented with good business acumen. You understand requirements beyond the written word and how your technical contributions will influence the viability of future products.

-Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc).
-Programming experience with one or more application or systems languages (Ruby, Python, Elixir, Go, Java, Scala, C/C++, etc).
-Experience with service-oriented architectures and distributed systems (including understanding of distributed systems concepts and principles).
-Experience building pipelines from ingestion to delivery in critical data applications (data streaming, transforming, warehousing, search, real-time dashboarding).
-Strong algorithms & data structure experience.

-Experience with Apache Kafka and related technologies.
-Strong understanding of database performance concepts like indexes, projections, and partitions.
-Strong understanding of different storage architectures and their appropriate application.
-Experience using and implementing functionality of data streaming systems, messaging systems, and/or job scheduling/monitoring systems.

-Competitive base salary and equity at a fast growing start-up company
-Exceptional company culture and a cool group of intelligent, motivated, and diverse teammates
-Unlimited snacks and coffee
-Team lunch from awesome restaurants every Wednesday
-Exposure to the best network of hospitality professionals and world-renowned hospitality organizations
-Team events at the best restaurants in New York City
-Flexible vacation policy; work hard and take time when you need it
-Superb medical/dental/vision package to fit your needs
