Job Description

Product Designer, Enterprise
SALIDO - New York, NY

You are a talented product designer with an incredible vision for creating end to end enterprise web and mobile products. You love sketching flows or experiences on a piece of paper, and taking those ideas through to high fidelity wireframes and complete user interface designs. You will work closely with our talented team of designers, product managers, developers, marketers, and key business stakeholders to develop innovative features for our mobile apps, web platform, and most importantly, the experience inside the restaurant. You're highly motivated, super organized, and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.

Founded in 2013, SALIDO continuously innovates hospitality technology so that operators can lower costs and increase profits. We are building the first-ever Restaurant Operating System that combines all operating needs on one cohesive platform. At its present state, restaurants are becoming less and less profitable. Rent, labor, food, technology costs are constantly increasing and margins are endlessly shrinking. In order to combat this, they need the best technology that will give them control of their business. From our offices in Soho, New York City, we are dedicated to changing the way the hospitality industry operates, to create a system that is built for the best interest of restaurants all over the world.

Are specialist and a generalist. You take pride in your strength in one or many facets of what it means to be a designer, but are eager to broaden your skills and wear many hats.
Are a cross-platform designer. Hopefully you’ve shipped something across several platforms. You know what translates from desktop and what doesn’t, or why you’d opt for one business solution for iOS and another on mobile web.
Prototyped on multiple platforms. You’ve made last-minute tweaks between user studies. You know how to be all kinds of quick and dirty, but dream of better prototyping tools.
Shipped product. You’ve weathered release cycles and know what details matter at each stage, how to motivate engineers to get the fit and finish right, how to translate insights from user studies into meaningful action, and what’s most likely to go afoul at each stage. You can share several shining examples of real work you've shipped, and what you learned along the way.
Think about the bottom line. Analytics don’t scare you, and you know which features can act as force multipliers on your company’s business model.
Are the Product Manager’s secret weapon. You thrive best when helping to define the requirements, not just translating them into designs. You facilitate and draw the best design ideas from teammates.
Delivered usable and beautiful enterprise products. You bring a fresh take and strong experience to our Bridge product team. You’re proud of the products you’ve designed, and can motivate our team to bring that class of design excellence to the hospitality world.

4+ years designing and shipping enterprise products with consumer-grade usability.
Understanding, planning, and critical thinking applied to enterprise product design.
A keen knowledge of what is possible in modern SaaS web development.
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency with Sketch and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, and other design and prototyping tools such as InVision & Zeplin.
Obsessive attention to detail.
Deeply collaborative and iterative approach to product design, focused on ensuring a unified experience across the board.
Ability to produce multiple concepts and prototypes; knowing when to apply pixel-perfect attention to detail, and when to make low-fi sketches and prototypes.
Experience working closely with engineers to develop and iterate our rOS (restaurant operating system) experience.
A link to your online portfolio or PDF is required. Applications without a portfolio are unlikely to be considered.

Understanding of modern web platform foundations and tools, such as Bootstrap, Rails, and React.
Strong understanding of web design paradigms, especially as concerned with data-heavy applications, complex workflows, and mobile implications.
Data architecture proficiency with technologies such as SQL & Mongo DB, and practical applications of designing with data-first.
Animations; you know how to communicate transitions and effects that empower the product’s usability and accessibility.
Experience and empathy with the hospitality world, whether in a restaurant, bar, hotel, etc.
iOS design experience; Product Designers at SALIDO help each other across all platforms.
