I was in charge of all technical and compliance aspects of the platform. I headed a small team of developers who developer a ISO27001/HIPAA accredited platform for ordering...more genetic tests, with direct integration with hospital software.
Postdoctoral Research Associate: Computational biology of the Notch signalling pathway
2012 - 2016 (over 3 years)
I was a post-doctoral researcher in Computational Biology at Prof. Sarah Bray's laboratory studying the epigenetics and dynamics of the Notch signalling pathway.
My...more role was in data integration, processing, modelling and analysis of data from genome-wide and microscopy experiments: genome-wide ChIP-chip/seq assays, static and timeseries imaging data. I modelling and simulated diffusion-reaction systems, and applied statistical methods such as HMMs.
I designed, implemented and maintained the Wikipedia search.
I was in charge of everything related to the search in Wikipedia. I created all the infrastructure, software...more and algorithms used. E.g. made search autocomplete end-to-end on Wikipedia in the era before Elasticsearch and JQuery, create the first "Did you mean..." suggestions and worked on the search relevance. I managed all the search servers directly.
Straight out of university I built the search at Wikipedia. After that went on to do a PhD in applications of machine learning in computational biology and continued as post-doctoral researchers. After that I've co-founded GeneAdviser (software still running in the NHS), and was the CTO in Factmata (first ever commercial fake news detection algorithm). Currently changing the future of software and ML with Atlas ML.
