Similar in structure to a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program, referralMD manages healthcare referral network exchanges, economic and new business development efforts. It’s an application to specifically track referral sources, collaboration opportunities, follow-up activity and measure localized network growth.
Specialists & primary care doctors and other healthcare professionals, utilize the tools for tracking and measuring their network referral activity, business development efforts and collaborative projects. Integrated reporting tools provide network-to-business development proof of conversion – valuable for new healthcare facilities and retention campaigns.

ReferralMD is a cloud based, highly secure and scalable web application using cutting edge web application architecture. The core framework is Node.js + AngularJS. The data is stored in MongoDB, the most widely used NoSQL database. The UI is built with Twitter Bootstrap and is responsive for use on tablets and mobile devices. The platform is hosted on Heroku which is built on AWS. The system is designed to be fully HIPAA compliant and scalable.
Using cutting edge technology allows us to recruit developers that are deeply involved with technology and can grow with the team in the future. Using the latest technology also gives us a competitive advantage as we scale and can outpace any competition by being able to deliver on features more quickly and adapt to market conditions.
Building the team:
The founders met through a personal friend and both moved to San Francisco to start referralMD together. All good things come from good timing, luck, persistence and a ton of hard work.
Communication and Collaboration:
The team uses Pivotal Tracker, Trello, Yammer, and Salesforce to stay in constant communication with each other so that nothing is missed.
Personal experiences from the founder gave light to the major communication issues that cause frustration for millions of patients and doctors around the world. With Jonathan's mother consistently in the hospital for much of his life, he decided to help her and millions like her receive better care from healthcare facilities.
Jason Coppola has extensive experience with business management and technological development. With over 15 years of experience in IT management, he has led large scale IT projects for the up to $20 billion for eCommerce, supply chain, and business intelligence systems at Microsoft Corporation and the Boeing Company.
Jason's strengths include creating strategy and tactics for delivering technology to market, technical design and development, and agile software development and team management.
Started his first company at 13. 6 companies total, of which 3 were startups.
Has written over 100+ healthcare publications and guides for referralMD.
Created a Think Tank of 55 CEO's and business owners which developed into a software company to solve his own referral management problems, called mynetworkfactory.
