A market-quality board game where players fight for Glory
Game Designer, Layout Artist, Business Director, Adobe Indesign, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Illustrator · I came up with the core idea for the game (both… · More core mechanics and the game setting, I am now something of an expert on Roman gladiators). I worked with a partner (Geoffrey Rollins) who fleshed out the idea. We completed the design in 2011. After the design was complete, I applied for and earned 3 Canadian grants (totaling over $76,000; these grants included business training requirements). I negotiated a publishing/distribution contract with a major North American publisher, although we did part ways due to a breach of contract on their part. In the end, I completed all the remaining artwork to bring the game to market (finalized layouts, arranged manufacturing and distribution, organized points of sale, etc.).
Gladiators is a board game where players fight for Glory in the Roman Coliseum. It is sold by a print-on-demand publisher in the USA and Canada.
I have earned 3 grants (raising over $76,000) for my company Ludocracy. My business plan impressed the review committee enough that they asked (a) that my BP serve as a positive example to other grant recipients, (b) that I meet with a number of politicians to show off the success of the program, and (c) that I submit more projects if/when they reach the right stage of development.
