I was brought in by the CEO and the board of Directors to redevelop the product and a new engineering team built on a new strategy to help the company evolve. I worked with...more the board of directors and CEO for the first three weeks in building a new game plan pivoting away from the model that was not working and then joined the senior executive team building out a new product roadmap. I led the team and worked very closely with the international OEM customers to build a new product. In the first nine months we shipped three versions of the product addressing the Carrier grade OEMs needs in Japan as well as the enterprise communication sector. I rejuvenated a failing set of partnerships with large corporations like NEC and Hitachi Communications. Created a new customer focused unit that worked very close with the OEMs in joint selling. I sold the product with NEC telecom to Softbank, KDDI and NTT Docomo. I developed a new relationship with Microsoft’s Enhanced Voice Services group and launched a version of our product with Microsoft under the EVS 2.0 and version in Feb. 08’. I shipped a carrier-grade enterprise VOIP (SIP, RTP, RTSP) Conference server with Web 2.0 technology utilizing SOA architecture handling 99.999% (53 seconds down-time in 24x7x365) availability for the Unified Communication market segment.
I headed the Storage Networking Appliance and the I/O optimization business unit with P&L ownership. The business was focused in building Storage Networking Appliance for the OEM business line for SAN and NAS appliances. Commodity hardware with differentiation in software was the business goals. Innovations in software targeting storage appliance and security for large and distributed storage systems were the key growth area for the business. My team worked on newer protocols for data sharing that could grow seamlessly to multiple data storage hubs with federated namespace. I worked on developing offloaded remote I/O architecture that allowed a scalable I/O subsystem within a shared, networked data storage space. It emphasized on I/O virtualization strategy (SCSI over IP and Fiber Channel over IP) for creating new data access protocols. The innovation is in software and leveraging the off-the-shelf hardware components. I am responsible for engineering and program management, which is located in San Jose, CA, Havant, UK and India.I worked with each and every customer for the business unit, in winning customers, retaining them and have them as return customers for new products. I developed a brand-new customer base for this new business unit for the company. I was involved in marketing the product, creating new solutions for some of the existing customer base. Continued as a transition consulted till Dec ’06 as a consultant.

I was in charge of the software and firmware engineering team in Milpitas, CA, Redmond WA, Raleigh, NC, Bangalore & Hyderabad, India and Germany. I managed the BIOS,...more the lower-level chip interface as well as the device driver team for multiple Operating Systems. My team was responsible for all of the ASIC lower-level interfaces and all of the BIOS, system firmware, iSCSI and IPSec work for Adaptec. I had a team of 87 engineers reporting to me with four managers. I also managed the iSCSI group and the new eight-port SAS/SATA ASIC with initiator and target mode implementation on the same port. I worked very closely with customers like IBM, HP/Compaq, and Dell. I also managed various other tier-2 and tier-3 OEM customers. My business unit was responsible for $140 million of component and channel revenue for the company. Single handedly revived the HPQ relationship for Adaptec.

I created and managed the future technology strategy for the company along with strategic business relationship with partners business partners like Microsoft Storage Server division, Intel’s I/O processor division, 3Ware and international vendors like Wistron, Quanta, etc. I was very deeply involved in introducing the IOMEGA NAS product line with focus on vertical application domains like Application-High-Availability and Data Protection. I worked on establishing the new business unit with proper emphasis on marketing, sales channel, strategic business partnerships, VAR program and the VAR channel launch.
