Token sales have funded the next generation of promising cryptocurrency projects: Ethereum, Filecoin, and 0x, to name a few. At OpenToken, we believe that token sales done the right way are a promising way to bootstrap early stage projects and protocols. But the space is notoriously noisy and difficult to navigate. Our goal is to make the process of participating in the most promising token sales simple.
Our team is based in San Francisco and comes from Andreessen Horowitz, Google, and 21.co, and our investors include Pantera, Refactor Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, Abstract Ventures, and partners from Founders Fund and Google Ventures, among others. Our current application stack includes React, Django, Postgres, and Solidity.
As engineers, we think smart contracts and distributed ledgers will make financial systems more robust, extensible, and interoperable. With that philosophy, our servers do not move money or control user funds. Instead, we use smart contracts for financial transactions and a traditional software stack for everything else. This is a challenging and novel problem: until moderate throughput cryptocurrencies became popular (ETH, XLM, etc.), it was not possible to expressively move money or financial assets around in a trusted and publicly verifiable way. At OpenToken, you will build this system with us, using both well established tools and new technology.
-Create a secure, fault tolerant backend that reliably tracks and sends cryptocurrency transactions
-Write smart contracts that handle traditional financial processing in a robust transaction-oriented environment like Ethereum
-Use industry-standard tools like Postgres, Django, Celery, EC2, and S3
-Automate everything. Make our manual processes easier or remove them entirely with data scrapers, anomaly detection, fast alerts, speculative job execution
-Test and pipeline deployments for five nines uptime and 99.5% < 200ms SLA
-Coordinate external penetration tests and bug bounty programs
-Interest in cryptocurrencies and robust systems
-Experience with systems engineering (multiple distinct interacting components)
