What We're Building

Notion provides full Home Awareness - a brand new concept that goes far beyond expensive, limited home security systems and complex DIY options - and we're doing it with just a single device! Our first product is a small, Oreo-sized sensor that's packed with 8 powerful capabilities detecting things like doors opening, water leaks, smoke alarms and much more. We provide alerts via text, e-mail, or push notifications.

We've made this unique hardware in order to collect proprietary data. Notion's ability to collect incredible amounts of big data from homes and other buildings has lead to partnerships with a number of major insurance companies, multi-family property managers and other product companies. Plus, we just started shipping to our 2,000 pre-sale customers the first week of February!

Notion is venture-backed by Draper Nexus, DFJ Frontier, Foundry Group and others. We have 10 passionate employees that have previously built multiple telecom, consumer and home automation products.

Have Questions? Ask Us Anything

What is your office environment like?
Notion's office is situated right in the heart of downtown Denver (15th and Blake). We have an open office with a quiet, relaxed environment. Sonos playing most of the day, there's a ping pong table, a fridge stocked with craft beer, and plenty of Sphero races! Being a hardware company, we have a number of test stations with soldering equipment, a 3D printer, destruction tests, diagnostic areas, and more. Culture is a major focus for us and we've made concerted efforts across the board to foster growth and innovation in our workspace.

How many people are you hiring in the next year?
We are looking to expand the team in a number of areas over the coming year. Our channel-focused strategy allows us to reach consumers in a number of ways. Accordingly, we'll be looking for sales folks, QA engineers, manufacturing specialists, full stack developers, and more very soon.

What are some of the toughest engineering problems Notion is facing now?
Our biggest challenges lie in the user experience. Notion sensors are capable of all of their tasks at all times ("all-in-one, all at once"). We've spent countless hours testing, interviewing, and dialing in the application to make the interaction with Notion intuitive and balanced. We do our best to employ new, innovative techniques to ensure a seamless experience and are always looking to optimize and add value.
