Job Description

Modsy is a fast growing SF based startup that allows you to see inspirational designs and decor within the context of your own home. Sparked by a lifelong passion for the intersection of design and technology, Modsy is being brought to life by a diverse and talented team of engineers, artists, designers and creators. We're looking for great back-end developers.

We're looking for someone who can make an immediate impact, so experience with modern back-end engineering is essential for our early hires. However, our needs can change quickly so we encourage anyone who is interested in this position at Modsy to apply! This position is full-time and based in San Francisco, Portland, or Salt Lake City.

Responsibilities:

Implement consumer web and compute farm components that drive Modsy.
Work with engineering team to scale Modsy's systems and ensure high standards of code quality.
Architect efficient and reusable systems to drive a complex web application.
Constantly test, measure and improve existing code.

Requirements:

Strong fundamentals in computer science and software engineering.
Strong communication skills.
A desire to grow as an engineer through collaboration with a diverse team, code reviews, and learning new languages/technologies.
3+ years of experience building Python web applications (Django, Tornado, etc.) and consumer web components.
3+ years experience designing, implementing, and scaling relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
1+ years of experience with React or other modern Javascript framework (e.g. Angular, Ember)
Bonus: An understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
