Luminostics is a Y Combinator-backed startup building a smartphone adaptor for at-home disease testing and health monitoring. Our product platform enables the 15-minute detection and/or quantitation of targets such as bacteria, viruses, hormones and proteins from a variety of liquid samples.
In this role of Product Development Scientist, you will lead the development of the assay component of our products all the way from bench-top proof-of-concept to validation and manufacturing transfer.
You might be a great fit for this role if at least two of the following three things are true and you have a strong passion for point-of-care diagnostics.
- You built a biosensor during your PhD or otherwise spent at least 2 years building a device to detect biological molecules.
- You have developed and analytically/clinically validated lateral flow tests or other affinity-based assays (e.g. ELISAs, other immunoassays) before.
- You have thought a lot about different bioconjugation strategies for nanoparticles or other surfaces.

Luminostics has built a smartphone adaptor for at-home disease testing and health monitoring. Our product platform enables the 15-minute detection and/or quantitation of targets such as bacteria, viruses, hormones and proteins from a variety of liquid samples. A user will simply (i) add a small liquid sample to a single-use cartridge, (ii) load the cartridge into a phone case-like reusable smartphone adaptor, and (iii) press a button on an app to obtain a result in a few minutes. Luminostics' technology is based on light-emitting nanoparticles that can be super-sensitively detected using a smartphone camera after excitation with the phone's flash.
