All three E-Merge partners have each spent 15+ years as founders before becoming full-time investors and have therefore a pretty good understanding of the challenges facing innovative & ambitious early-stage startups and their founders.
Laurent is the investor that founders dream about. A true entrepreneur, and a passion for your business which mentors without meddling. He and Emerge are the definition of founder-friendly, and I am thrilled to have them as our lead investors. They love and understand early stage. What more can a founder want?
Founder @simsaas. Founding CEO @riskpulse. Software Engineer @mcmaster-carr-supply-co. Alum @university-of-chicago.
As a former entrepreneur, Laurent has a unique understanding of the challenges we face as we grow the company. Together with his partner Patrice, he has provided us with very valuable insight into our strategy and operations. Really glad to have him as one of our investors!
Founder & CEO @cabify; studied at @stanford-university; Fulbright fellow
Laurent's greatest strength's and benefits to myself and Spreedly are i) Is still truly an "entrepreneurial" investor. Understand's what you're trying to do and minimizes the cycles you have to invest in managing your investor. ii) Direct communicator. You always know exactly where you stand and what they're thinking. Articulate their point of view but ultimately leave all decisions in your hands, iii) Fair: Critical when discussing equity, option pools, compensation etc. iv) For us in particular deep vertical expertise which helps all aspects of our interactions from first call to strategy today.
CEO of @spreedly. Formerly SVP Sales/BD at @intraware - sold to Macrovision/Flexera in 2009.
Laurent has been a phenomenal adviser, VC investor and partner to NanoSatisfi since our early days. He has amazing energy, yet is 100% down to earth and really helps you focus on what is relevant for success. Generous with his time he is a true supporter of the Entrepreneur and a great asset for us. We would not be were we are without him.
CEO of Spire Global Inc, strong science and business background (CERN, HBS, BCG). Adept at capitalizing on exponential change trends
Laurent is an extrordinary resource to any growing company. He brings the experience of having worked on dozens of ventures in different industries, both in the States and Europe. Laurent has the ability to focus laser-like on the problems that need to be solved, yet leaves management with plenty of room to make the key decisions. Having Laurent on our team has turned out to be a major advantage --and I have no doubt he will soon be one of the key 'go-to' early stage potential investors for smart entrepreneurs.
Founder NanoRacks • CEO of MirCorp, 1st commercial space station. Experience with PanAmSat, Shearson Lehman, US Office of Space Commerce. Author and commentator
Laurent and Patrice (@E-Merge) are the lead investors in @Ordoro. I have worked with them for more than a year and it has been a perfect investor-CEO relationship from my point of view. Since they are former entrepreneurs, they can closely relate to many things that I go through on a daily basis. One of our goals is to build a sustainable company with a great culture, and Emerge has been a key element in helping us in that pursuit. Emerge is a long-term focused investor and we clearly see that in their actions and recommendations. They do not micro-manage, but are available for advise whenever we need them. And in that, they don't force us to always do it their way. How you handle disagreements is the best way to judge a relationship. When we disagree on topics, they let us choose our path because they know that we are closer to Ordoro any day than them. Since they have invested in many early stage companies in our space, they have a good intuition on many things we encounter. And they sometimes see patterns that I may miss. That has come very handy in certain key decisions. I am extremely happy to have Emerge as our lead investor.
CEO/co-founder @ordoro. Bringing usability and good design to the boring space of supply-chain-management. And customers love it so far.
Laurent has been an extraordinary support at Voxbone throughout the entire 10 year venture. You can’t think of a more founder friendly and helpful investor. 3 things which I found particularly inspiring: a) Always looking for fair and win-win (or win-win-win) solutions. b) Consistently brings angles or viewpoints in discussions other people don’t think of. Even after 10 years. c) Super pragmatic (no BS), down to earth and straightforward guy. He clearly made the difference.
