Stanza lets people and communities discover, share, and create their own events calendars. To date, 6M+ fans have found and synced over 315M events with their personal calendars via Stanza.
Couple neat things we built out internally:
- Architecture is highly modular built up with many Node servers - we made it very easy to keep components separate while sharing code between servers, and sharing code between client & server. All the servers talk to each other through redis - load balanced via nginx.
- Built and open-sourced a package: Universal Parcel Service for Asset Building UPS (https://github.com/joinspoton/ups) which ensures that we can deploy without ever having any down-time - takes advantage of staggered deployment & pre-compilation.

Lending in the informal financial services sector is only effective when there is physical outreach right up to the borrower’s doorstep. This is because such borrowers live in remote geographies far away from banking infrastructure and are intimidated by the “threshold barrier” of banks. They also operate in a cash-based economy with a limited digital footprint. Field agents serve as the link between lender and borrower. 80% of customer interactions, and therefore operations, take place in the field.
However, field operations are largely dependent on costly manual processes, which limit their ability to scale. Further, lenders continue to target the mass market since credit assessment of a data-poor borrower (i.e. a borrower with a limited digital footprint) is difficult and expensive.
Artoo believes that the best way to achieve financial inclusion at scale is to empower the field agent to do more for the customer at his / her doorstep. Artoo's Intelligent Digital Loan Origination System is built to enhance the interaction between the agent and borrower and make borrower segments viable by capturing all valuable data during this interaction and enabling intelligent credit assessment.

Lumoid makes it easy to rent, try and buy consumer electronics, starting with photography gear.
1. We use excess inventory from used electronics stores to fulfill demand. We also work directly with brands to send us equipment to ship to customers, in exchange for data (see (3) below). This keeps us inventory light.
2. We recommend + ship the gear (think cameras, lenses, GoPros etc.) for between $5/day to $25/day.
3. We collect a TON of data on what people try and then buy (or return). Brands love the data we give them around usage pattern, purchase behavior. We also use the data to recommend better products to our customers.
Early traction data is very good - particularly, we're seeing very high repeat rental/purchase behavior for a low acquisition cost.
