Find great jobs with the company revolutionizing the way we travel.
Unlike airlines, bus companies are new to web technology. Their data systems are primitive and vary greatly. There are no unified data standards and no accessible APIs. Direct business and technical partnerships are required to perform custom integration with their technologies in order to deliver a fully functional search and booking process. Without this middle layer technology and direct partnerships, consumer sites like Kayak cannot exist in this space.
Wanderu built the ITA and Kayak for ground travel. We collect, process and route partners’ data to deliver a consumer search that Millennials love and receive a percentage of each transaction. Our technology and low customer acquisition costs create a defensible, scalable business which we will use as the foundation for creating the travel brand for the next generation.
We're a fun group working on turning a very unsexy product - calendar - into a delightful experience. Our team is small but eclectic - representing many parts of the world and many, many interests.
As a startup, we've crossed the hump of finding product-market fit and are now in the exciting phase of scaling the business. Our "Add to Calendar" button has now been used by 2M+ users to download 100M+ events to their personal calendars over the past 8 months.
You'd find us to be a fun group to work with if you are:
1) Pathologically driven by good design
2) Genuinely curious about scaling problems
3) Strong enough to push your opinions when it matters (and when you are correct)
In other words, we put a lot of heart into what we do and are looking to find other people who feel the same.
Couple neat things we built out internally:
- Architecture is highly modular built up with many Node servers - we made it very easy to keep components separate while sharing code between servers, and sharing code between client & server. All the servers talk to each other through redis - load balanced via nginx.
- Built and open-sourced a package: Universal Parcel Service for Asset Building UPS (https://github.com/joinspoton/ups) which ensures that we can deploy without ever having any down-time - takes advantage of staggered deployment & pre-compilation.
The position is a remote employee position with occasional trips into the office for team meetings and planning. We don't mind you working from your home, a coffee shop, or a bookstore! We do however expect professional and timely contribution of code to our team effort.
About our company:
We are Assessments.com. Our staff is passionate about using technology to help people who have made poor choices in their lives that have resulted in them entering local, state, and federal correctional systems. Our technology empowers the employees of these agencies to best identify what a person needs help with in their life so when it is time they leave the criminal justice system their chances that they will re-enter the correctional system are greatly reduced. We enjoy knowing our software at the end of the day is being used to help people.
PRIME is a SaaS online community of coordinated care. Our existing business provides correctional agencies with actuarial and predictive tools to sort and manage offenders, and we have amassed a unique database of 1M records of offenders' rehabilitative needs. We have coupled this unique goldmine of data with a proprietary provider database of up to 3M service providers to create the PRIME. PRIME helps correctional professionals match individual offenders with the best-suited services/programs, and provides secure, real-time information sharing between all parties, for cost savings and improved performance.
PRIME operates much like LinkedIn does for businesses and professionals or Open Table does for diners and restaurants. Community corrections is also an ecosystem, with multiple actors, (1) probation/parole, (2) treatment providers, and (3) offenders. PRIME provides an online, multi-sided platform, or marketplace for services, connecting players and improving outcomes.
Our team has passion for improving care by enabling a tighter relationship between Care Teams and their patients. These values guide us in achieving our vision.
We have many stakeholders -- internally and externally. We believe trust and respect is built by putting ourselves in the shoes of others.
Each of us brings a specific and important skill set and perspective to the table. This gives us a responsibility to speak up, make sure we are heard, and actively listen to others.
What we contribute and how we contribute is different, but we a share a common belief in relentless execution. We show up for each other, consistently. If each of us does well, we all do well.
We’re doing things that have never been done before in a landscape that is constantly changing. We must continuously learn, reflect, question, iterate and improve while remaining true to our core values.
We are a group of stubbornly solution-oriented people who do not quit. We take on obstacles with excitement and fierce determination and will always encourage healthy debate.
We hire people who are passionate about our shared vision and encourage them to be themselves. This makes us more than a workplace. We are a family!

Human interactions are rewarding. Sharing advice is rewarding.
Getting access to people like you, willing to share their experience is rewarding.
Machines can give you answers, but they can’t help you think through what you should do. People who’ve been in your position before can do that.
We think humans are the future of conversational intelligence. We're looking for Awesome Humans to join us on our adventure.

We are integrated into the Visa card authorization stream and are able to block or approve charges in real time. Processing card transactions is really hard because you're dealing with esoteric encodings, you have to never miss anything, and you have a fifth of a second or so to respond. That means (for example) you're doing clever local caches because light can't cross the country in time to load stuff out of the database.
Operationally, card issuing is governed the OCC (money laundering controls), FinCEN (suspicious activity reporting), FDIC (various), GLB (PII security), Reg E (statements and disputes), CFPB (disclosures), PCI (technical security), OFAC (anti terrorism), and NACHA (rules to clear funding). So both it's technically and operationally complex to do what we're doing.
The card is typically administered by a trusted family member or guardian, and offers anything from passive alerts to active blocking, sometimes saving the senior hundreds or thousands of dollars a month.
