Now, on the other side of the table, I'm able to sniff out BS - and recognize true potential. I love jamming with founders and giving them the benefit of lessons I learned the hard way. Founders allocate a portion of their round to me because I've been in their shoes, and because I'm connected to VC and Private Equity firms who would love to invest in their next round. I won't syndicate anything I'm not comfortable taking a big piece of myself. And I earn my carry through hours spent talking with founders, digging into the numbers, vetting the product, and travelling for face time when appropriate.
