What I Do
I'm a 31-year-old software engineer. I work at Kettle, an independent digital agency, and live in the New York City metro area. I help build amazing, user-centric web and mobile apps. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Penn State with degrees in English and marketing with high honors.
After college, I launched a start-up developing a commercial CMS for creative professionals called Alkaline.
While I later determined I was a better programmer than salesman, the product had an robust feature set for a 22-year-old including: raster and vector image management, version control, plug-and-play extension engine, built-in geographic database, image-based color palette generation, Sphinx search integration, and URL citation management, among other features. Alkaline is now open source.
In 2011, I joined Kettle as their technical engineer (Web, back-end). We primarily use PHP and MySQL but have some systems in Bash, Ruby, Python, Go, and PostgreSQL and SQLite.
In my early years there, I transitioned the development team to Git source code management, rewritten the company Web site's back-end, built the first Python Web app, and developed the in-house CDN deployment solution.
More recently, I've been managing large web projects for Apple, SoFi, and New York Sports Clubs.
