Fully owned the delivery, configuration, and launch of the AcademicWorks cloud software to universities and foundations. Set timelines and deadlines, deliver extensive training,...more wrangle client-side teams and resources, consult and advise on complex requirements. Juggled 1-2 dozen concurrent projects, each lasting 6-12 months.
Generalist position within a small custom software consultancy. Configured supervised machine learning of document classification for multiple oil & gas clients on the...more Ephesoft platform. Provided application support for Java-based enterprise apps such as Alfresco. Eventually took over full client services role for one client, CFO Scoreboard.
Delivered a couple thousand short-run design projects for Volusion e-comm store owners over the course of 18 months -- mostly involving Photoshop customizations and light...more edits to HTML and CSS. Started with a simple MVC architecture and rapidly added on new features from a deep backlog of stretch goals that I set up for myself. By the end of the week, I had refactored several times to create more modularity and communication among the many interface and model elements I had created. And overall, had a total blast putting this together.
Buoy is an easy button for conscious consumerism. A literal moral compass, if you will. A directory of local businesses that are doing things you care about. Next time you want to go eat, drink, or shop, try Buoy instead of Yelp or Google Maps. We're adding more establishments all the time.
Spent 7 years on the "people skills" side of software before noticing that engineering can be collaborative, upbeat, thrilling, and meaningful. Enrolled in Galvanize course, having a blast, and excited to apply my passion and exceptional learning ability to problems that matter in the world.
- Created highly-interactive rendition of Conway's Game of Life with tons of bells and whistles -- in 1 week, using vanilla JS -- for first significant 'project week' at Galvanize.
- Rewrote technical docs for AcademicWorks's RESTful student data import API.
- Completely rebuilt AcademicWorks implementation project plan, and continually iterated for 2 years.
- Set record rates of monthly delivery for small 'premium template' projects on the Volusion design team.
My ideal company is a scrappy startup where personalities are calm, resourceful, and determined; where the leadership is accessible and sincere; where red-bull hype and brogrammers are rare; and where the product solves an important problem, which yields a clear external good for the world.
