Job Description is seeking a product engineer with a strong technical and business background to develop our consumer search and comparison applications for health plans. This role will also oversee new products under development that provide new user tools and new forms of engagement. The right person will be entrepreneurial, technical, metrics-driven, curious and have a desire to build something great. You also need to be passionate about the problem we're solving.

We are looking for a product-obsessed engineer to drive our product design and development alongside our development team & product team. As one of our first engineers in our NYC office, you'll help guide key design, architecture, and technology decisions.

You will have a deep understanding of the technology solutions currently used by the company, both internally-built and through outside platforms, and understand where they fit within our product and business goals. You will work closely with our data team to understand what data is being captured, how to use it, and ways to apply it to improve how we do things using it. With a comprehensive understanding of our business from a technology standpoint, you'll come up with technology-driven solutions to differentiate and improve our products for users, advertisers and distribution partners.

You will own the the web front and back-end, developing a platform that meets the needs of our expanding user base and advertiser base. This includes driving the product roadmap, bringing "design thinking" on product features, coordinating development efforts across the team, and working alongside designers to iterate on product UI/UX. It will also include working with technology teams of our key partners, and being our point person on such projects.

We’re planning to start off with some focused projects to get some small wins, and then grow from there.

The right product engineer will understand how our consumer product fits into the overall business goals. The product engineer will balance user features and new products with measurable ROI for the business.

What you bring to the table
- SMART & GETS THINGS DONE (ideally, you've read the book as well)
-Passion for startups and building products that will be used to change the face of the healthcare industry
-Generalist mindset, excited to jump into many parts of the stack to ship working software
-You can develop features without hand-holding in the different languages
-Clear, effective communication skills, both written and verbal
-Experience with agile practices, including TDD/BDD, continuous delivery, object oriented design and others

The Problem You’re Solving:
Managing healthcare decisions is difficult & expensive. There’s a huge knowledge gap in consumers, which is happening at the same time that consumers are becoming responsible for more of their own expenses. We believe we can help consumers to make better decisions, like selecting the right plan, understanding coverage, projecting costs, choosing providers, understanding your medical bills and saving money.
