I'm an engineer who decided to become a researcher. I soon moved to software development and today I'm a happy manager and entrepreneur. The common ground in all of the above is my drive to find out how things work and improve on that.
In 2006 I received a Scholarship by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation to pursue a PhD in machine learning and computer vision, selected first in my scientific field. Research was focused on developing web services for automatically detecting new buildings from diverse periodic data, e.g. high resolution images and 3D surface models. For my publications on the subject I was awarded several distinctions from the National Technical University of Athens, from 2006-2009.
In 2009 I co-founded and started managing unweb.me, specialising on state-of-the-art information systems. Although the economic situation in Greece was rapidly deteriorating, the headcount went from 4 to 7 people in two years and its revenue grew consistently 100%-150% every year from 2009-2012. In the same time we started working on mist.io to change the way you manage cloud servers. In June 2013 mist.io was selected as one of the Top 12 European startups by Tech All Stars, an initiative of the European Commission.
