Systems requirement engineer

Duration: 6+ months



Position Summary:

Candidate shall be primarily responsible for automotive audio customer requirements engineering with role encompassing requirements elicitation, analysis, stake holder negotiation, technical writing.

This role will have a direct customer facing responsibility with limited amount of travel on need basis.

Knowledge of embedded software development in automotive audio is mandatory. Candidate must represent Harman by being responsible and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. Must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.



Job Responsibilities: The Systems Requirements engineer will be responsible for developing production ready software following a defined software development process. The engineer must be capable of analyzing specifications, developing software architecture and designs, developing unit test plans, integration test plans, and verifying functionality. The engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end software development for automotive audio software product(s).

Experience in user guides and user manual of embedded Infotainment and Audio products
Responsible for monitoring Functional Owners for completeness of the detailed breakdown Harman product Specification and mapping to Customer Requirements Specifications
Able to work with OEM and Harman team and documenting functional and technical requirements
Responsible for tracking of completion of requirements analysis process and reporting of weekly status to project management
Responsible for generating Change Request documentation for approval by the customer in lieu of updated customer requirements describing the change
Lead the software development team by creating software development plans, managing customer releases, leading the software planning meetings, delegating software tasks to the team, and providing technical mentoring to the team.
Leads internal and customer driven design reviews throughout program.
Support in the development of architecture design.
Analyze customer and internal requirements and translate these into software designs.
Work with off-shore development and verification teams to support in the software development activity.
Work with the hardware team to review hardware designs and support initial hardware debug.
Communicate and interface directly to the OEM customers.




Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in embedded software system development.
5+ years of experience in requirement analysis in Automotive Infotainment and Audio system.
Ability to read schematics and debug analog and digital hardware.
Experience in Automotive Infotainment / Audio with understanding of coding skills in at least one or two scripting language knowledge.
Must have working knowledge of embedded operating systems.
Working knowledge of software development processes and process models such as CMMI or ASPICE.
Experienced working with and/or off-shore development teams.
Creative problem-solver capable of creating and reproducing complex software defects.
Experienced interfacing directly to OEM’s
Strong attention to detail.
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
